McDonald Engineers has supplied 30 of its POWERflow solar cylinders to an award winning housing project in Scotland at the insistence of an architect who recognised the importance of using copper cylinders with solar energy.
The project, which went on to win the prestigious Green Apple Environmental Award, saw McDonald Engineers supply a combination of 180 litre and 210 litre POWERflow cylinders fitted with high performance finned copper coils to deliver maximum performance.
The lure of ‘free’ hot water, the potential to cut energy bills and the potential to earn money via the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), is making solar thermal installations an increasingly attractive proposition.
And whilst our solar thermal cylinders have been successfully installed for decades, clients continue to have challenges when it comes to specifying cylinders to maximise the savings delivered by the project.
McDonald Engineers has supplied 12 of its Contract POWERflow unvented cylinders complete with heat pump and solar coils for the refurbishment of social housing in the west of Scotland.
The company’s Contract POWERflow can provide a cost effective alternative for larger projects requiring lower specification unvented cylinders.
And whilst the Contract POWERflow may be a more simplified unit than the original POWERflow, McDonald Engineers continue to offer a full customisation service to allow clients to include additional coils for use with multiple fuel sources.
McDonald Engineers has assisted one local authority to improve their renewable energy capabilities by supplying one of their solar hot water cylinders to the training facility. With growing pressures on Local Authorities and Housing Associations to improve the energy efficiencies of their housing stock, many are now looking at how they can capitalise on renewable energy sources.
McDonald Engineers has made solar hot water systems easy with its SOLARsave pre-plumbed unit which features a high performance dual coil copper cylinder with all the major components pre-fitted and pre-wired for a quick and easy installation.
Another successful POWERflow 2000 Unvented Mains Pressure System course has been completed. If you require to sit the course please contact us for details, as dates can be arranged to suit. The course involves a tour round our factory to see the manufacturing process for copper cylinders. We have a demo display with our Unvented Cylinder and also our THERMflow Thermal Store and also a solar cylinder. Anyone wishing a factory tour is more than welcome at any time please contact to arrange a suitable time.
