McDonald Engineers has manufactured and supplied a bespoke 700 litre POWERflow unvented copper cylinder for a prestigious restaurant group in its latest venue in London’s Covent Garden.

The unique design of the Victorian property placed major restrictions on the sizing of the cylinder. However, McDonald Engineers was able to deliver a bespoke copper cylinder measuring 2200mm x 795mm to ensure it could fit the narrow doorways.

Copper was seen as the perfect choice for the restaurant thanks in part to its superior anti-microbial properties which helps combat the threat of bacteria such as legionella and E.coli.

Heated purely by electric immersions, the cylinder specifications were able to be delivered using McDonald Engineers’ flexible manufacturing expertise, which has seen the company become the UK’s market leader for bespoke copper cylinders.

McDonald Engineers’ Sales Director, Jamie Stewart, explained “The client originally thought they would need to use 2 smaller cylinders to deliver the required capacity with the site conditions. However, we were able to deliver the required capacity in one cylinder – saving money and installation costs.”

He continued, “Our technical sales team are focused on helping clients to achieve the right cylinder for their project with the most efficient design and specification. However, this is only possible if you have the manufacturing process to deliver the cylinders to the quality and performance required, whatever the design.”
