McDonald Engineers has saved a local council thousands of pounds by responding to an emergency calorifier replacement for a residential home in the North East of England.
The council were facing the prospect of moving the elderly residents into a hotel until the hot water service had been restored, at considerable cost and disruption to the elderly residents.
However, after receiving a call from the builder merchants at 7pm on a Wednesday evening, McDonald Engineers had a technical drawing produced, signed off and the 600 litre calorifier into production by 10am on Thursday morning.
After completing the manufacturing process and carrying out the quality testing, the calorifier was collected and delivered to the residential home by Friday lunchtime, ready for installation.
By working closely with the client and the builder’s merchant, the replacement calorifier was designed to ensure all connections were positioned to match the existing pipework.
This meant the faulty unit could be replaced quickly with minimum disruption and the hot water back on by late afternoon in time for the weekend.
McDonald Engineers’ Sales Director, Jamie Stewart, explained “Our manufacturing process for calorifiers is one of the best in the world and I am delighted we were able to demonstrate the efficiency and professionalism with this project.”
He continued, “Whilst our lead time for calorifiers is normally 2-4 weeks, which remains one of the quickest in the industry, our production team went above and beyond to ensure the calorifier was manufactured in record time and the residents did not face the nightmare of moving out for the weekend.”
