McDonald Engineers has designed, manufactured and supplied a number of horizontal calorifiers for a major UK supermarket ranging from 500 Litre to 1000 Litre Powerflow Commercial calorifiers.
As well as providing a like for like replacement for a calorifier which had failed, McDonald Engineers also manufactured four additional calorifiers for upgrade works at various locations throughout the UK.
Each of the calorifiers were designed specifically for the individual locations and were value engineered to minimise the customer’s installation costs by positioning connections in such a way as to allow easy integration to existing pipework.
To ensure the calorifiers could be easily maintained and inspected, manhole covers were fitted as standard together with de-stratification pumps to prevent stagnant water and prevent harmful bacteria developing, such as legionella and e-coli.
McDonald Engineers’ Sales Director, Jamie Stewart, explained “One of the key factors in securing the initial contract was our ability to manufacture the calorifiers to the customer’s exact specification within a specific timescale.”
He continued, “As always, we were able to manufacture the tanks within 2 weeks allowing the customer to decide when and where they wanted them delivered. After successfully delivering the first calorifier direct to site, we then asked the customer to look at the other stores to see if any modifications would need made to the design. Our technical sales team were in regular contact to ensure things went smoothly and the feedback has been incredibly positive.
