Glenrothes based manufacturers of hot water cylinders, McDonald Engineers, has demonstrated that family businesses can continue to deliver success over the long term by welcoming its 3rd generation to the business.

David Stewart, son of Managing Director Bill Stewart, nephew of Sales Director, Jamie Stewart and grandson of previous owner Mr Stewart, has joined the company’s technical sales office after a period on the shop floor where he experienced a thorough introduction to the manufacturing process of hot water cylinders.

McDonald Engineers can now claim their POWERflow unvented cylinder is in a national institution following a recent project which saw one if its commercial grade cylinders being installed in the National Library of Scotland.

The POWERflow was installed as part of a routine maintenance programme and due to the height of the building, Scotland’s largest library required a 4 bar working pressure copper cylinder manufactured to their exact specification.

09.06.2011 McDonald Engineers Increases Minimum Specification for Its Thermal Stores

McDonald Engineers has once again reinforced its position as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of copper hot water cylinders by increasing the specification of its standard Thermal Stores to deliver maximum performance. The move comes following extensive trials with its market leading THERMflow Thermal Store, over the last 12 months where the company measured the response from clients and the effect on performance. The THERMflow is now manufactured from a minimum of 1mm thick copper and features an extended length secondary coil for all units.
