02.03.2017 Bespoke Hot Water Solution for Major Biscuit Manufacturer

McDonald Engineers UK has demonstrated their expertise in bespoke hot water solutions by designing and manufacturing a 7-berth tank on tank solution for one of Scotland’s biggest biscuit manufacturers.

The client was looking for a solution which would provide individual hot water circuits to five manufacturing lines in their facility allowing them to have a great control over the quality of chocolate on each line.

15.02.2017 Bespoke 700 litre Calorifiers for Carrick Castle

McDonald Engineers UK has manufactured two 700 litre calorifers for the refurbishment of the 15th century castle on the shores of Loch Goil.  

Manufactured from premium grade copper, the calorifiers were designed and manufactured to maximise the heat transfer process from the air source heat pumps on site.

Copper’s thermal conductivity is almost 30 times greater than stainless steel which means it transfers more of the heat generated by the heat pumps in a shorter space of time – a key factor in the renewable energy market.

15.02.2017 Bespoke Hot Water Solution for Care Home

McDonald Engineers UK has designed, manufactured and supplied a bespoke hot water solution for a new 60-bed care home to feature their PLATEflow system, comprising of an 1860 litre copper buffer vessel with plate heat exchanger.

After discussing the project with the onsite Mechanical Engineer, the PLATEflow system was specified as the most efficient solution thanks to its ability to provide the core hot water demand via the plate heat exchanger and only calling on the stored hot water during periods of peak demand.

09.12.2016 Coppersmith Skills Create Bespoke Unit for Edinburgh Gin

McDonald Engineers UK has demonstrated its coppersmith skills by creating this bespoke draining unit for Edinburgh Gin which is used to empty gin stills to allow essential maintenance.

The bespoke unit features an inlay tray with copper mesh sheets to catch any botanicals or residue left in the system and is manufactured from the same grade of heavy duty copper as used in its gin stills to maintain the integrity of the product.

11.11.2016 Stainless Steel Boiling Tanks

McDonald Engineers UK has manufactured and supplied 2 stainless steel boiling tanks for the National Museum of Scotland for their laboratories in Edinburgh.

Measuring 1500mm x 1000mm x 1000mm and featuring a number of heavy duty electric immersions and a hinged lid, the tanks are being used for a variety of purposes including cleaning the meat from animal bones for their taxidermy department.

11.11.2016 Marine Calorifier Manufactured as Exact Replacement

McDonald Engineers UK has demonstrated its expertise in marine calorifiers by manufacturing and supplying a 300 litre unvented cylinder for an ‘A’ Class Suction Dredger manufactured from heavy duty copper.

The client was looking to keep dock time down to a minimum and was delighted to take advantage of McDonald Engineers UK’s ability to offer a custom service which enables like for like replacements to be achieved cost effectively.

11.11.2016 Calorifiers for Sports Facilities

McDonald Engineers UK has supplied two calorifiers for Glenrothes Strollers, one of Fife’s leading amateur football clubs, as part of a project to upgrade their changing facilities which can be used by over 400 footballers per week.

The community club has been established for over 40 years and has asserted/cemented itself as a key organisation in the town with an active programme which works with school children, disabled players and community payback schemes.
