McDonald Engineers UK has designed, manufactured and supplied a bespoke 500 litre buffer tank for the R&A Clubhouse on the world famous Old Course in St Andrews .
The R&A team discovered their current stainless steel cylinder was leaking badly and called McDonald Engineers, who carried out a site survey within a matter of hours and had a replacement copper buffer vessel delivered within 2 working days
The 500 litre copper buffer tank measured 1600 x 675mm shell size and was supplied with removal insulation for easy access.
To minimise the installation time, McDonald Engineers UK designed the cylinder to ensure all of the connections matched the original pipework and linked seamlessly with the existing plate heat exchanger.
McDonald Engineers’ Managing Director, Jamie Stewart, explained “A leaking hot water cylinder is a major issue at the best of times however the Old Course had a number of high profile tournaments approaching which made the project even more of a priority.”
He continued, “We were delighted to work closely with the client to ensure they enjoyed the peace of mind provided by one of our superior quality copper buffer vessels and pulled out all the stops to deliver the cylinder as quickly as possible.”
