PLATEflow
- Solid Copper Construction
- Sizes from 200-2000 Litres
- Shell Manufactured to BS 853
- Compact Installation
- Constant Hot Water
Principle of Design
The Plate Heat Exchanger is sized to deliver a ‘design’
flow rate. This flow rate is constantly available at all times, even
when the store is depleted.
The store is sized to deliver the peak flow rate over the required
time period. If the flow at the taps is equal or less than the design
flow rate, all secondary water is drawn off through the plate heat
exchanger. The buffer is only used when the design flow rate is exceeded
in periods of high demand.
Because of the design of the store, even when cold, the normal flow
rate is still available for use. When the flow falls below the design
flow rate after a period of peak use, the excess is used to recharge
the store.
The charging pump is in constant operation ensuring the store is kept
topped up as necessary.
- The McDonald Engineers’ PLATEflow
has been designed to supply hot water in situations where the
demand is not constant e.g. hospitals, factories, hotels etc.
- The PLATEflow package effectively
decreases the amount of hot water stored, while still providing
the peak flow rates required.
- Supplied pre-assembled the PLATEflow
can significantly reduce installation and commissioning time.
- Can be supplied as either a vented, tank fed unit or suitable
for unvented use directly from the mains or a booster pump set.
- All copper construction and system design effectively eliminates
potential for legionella. No need for extra destratification pumps.
